I

n this week’s issue we are pleased to bring you an update from the FFI board chair, Debbie Bing, following the FFI board meeting last month.

Dear Colleagues,

I hope you are all doing well and that the last few months of 2022 are busy, productive – and, of course, healthy ones for you. I am looking forward to the opportunity to connect in person with many of you at the conference in October, which is shaping up to be an amazing event, as you will read below!

The FFI board met in mid-September, and I wanted to provide you with updates about the many great initiatives underway and opportunities to get involved as we near the end of 2022.

Conference

2022 FFI Global Conference
Nearly 350 people have currently registered for the 2022 conference in Cambridge, MA, with MIT Sloan School of Management as the academic host. These four days promise to be educational, engaging, and much more as we gather in person once again. The board expressed thanks to John Davis, program chair, and Caleb White, Boston/Cambridge chair, on behalf of the two committees that have worked to put this all together. The conference is nearly sold out, but registrations will stay open until midnight Eastern Time on Sunday, October 9. After that, potential registrants will be wait listed. Go here for details and to register.

Financials

The board ratified the August actions of the Finance & Audit committee and accepted the 2021 audited financials, which show FFI in a strong financial position despite the many challenges of the last few years. The treasurer, Sandra McNeely, will give a report at the November 9 annual meeting, which will be held virtually.

2086 Society

FFI The 2086 Society
As you may remember, the 2086 Society was launched in 2018 as an effort to encourage and support additional applied research in our field. Maya Prabhu completed this year’s report on the 2086 Society, which was presented by Patricia Annino at the March board retreat. The board accepted the recommendation for the next three years of 2086 Society activities and extended its thanks to the founding members, Patricia Annino, Fredda Herz Brown, John Davis, Nancy Drozdow, Judy Green, and Paul Karofsky. You can read the report with recommendations here.

If you are an FFI Achievement Award winner and are interested in participating in the next three-year term of the 2086 Society, please email Judy Green for details. The Richard Beckhard Award, established in 1992, was the first award established by FFI. Three other Achievement Awards have since been added. Visit the Awards page for more information on each award and to see the recipients.

GEN Program

FFI GEN Logo
The third quarter of this year’s GEN program has just concluded. Currently more than 100 people are enrolled and nearly 50 people have completed programs so far this year. Many, many thanks to the GEN faculty, the FFI staff, and especially to the GEN participants, who make this unique and highly professional program a reality. If you want to enroll in Q4, please go here. If you are interested in becoming a GEN faculty member in 2023 or beyond, please email Judy Green for details.
