Since 2010, Singapore Management University (SMU) has recognized the emergence of Asian business families and discerned that they require specifically contextualized thought leadership and applied knowledge. In response to the growing needs of business families in Asia, SMU established the Business Families Institute (BFI) in 2012. The BFI aims to strengthen the ecosystem of entrepreneurial business families and stakeholders by addressing business family-specific issues such as succession, family governance, entrepreneurship and wealth management.

STEP is a global professional body, with more than 22,000 members comprising lawyers, accountants, trustees and other practitioners that help families plan for their futures. STEP’s Business Families Special Interest Group, established in 2007, focuses on what makes business families distinct, their particular challenges, and how to best address them. STEP and the STEP Business Families Special Interest Group received the 2019 FFI International Award.

More than fifty STEP members are part of the FFI membership, and they hail from countries around the globe. Two Days Left to Submit Suggestions for Board Nominations
The 2025 Nominating Committee welcomes suggestions from the FFI membership for nominees for Board of Director positions. These terms will begin immediately following the Annual Meeting in November 2025 and will conclude as of the Annual Meeting in 2029.

Today, we celebrate the achievements of those who graduated from the GEN (Global Education Network) program in the first quarter of this year.

These graduates, from around the world, have successfully completed a challenging program, engaging in collaborative learning alongside their peers and expert faculty. Along the way, they’ve built a global network of peers dedicated to advancing multi-generational family enterprises.
