n today’s FFI on Friday issue, we continue to feature FFI’s organizational members. The organizational members of FFI play a vital role in advancing the field of family enterprise advising through research, education, and practical expertise. Each of these organizations brings deep experience serving multigenerational family businesses, family offices, and enterprising families around the world. From innovative research and governance advisory to next-generation development and strategic planning, their contributions exemplify the collaborative spirit that defines FFI.

Family Business Association (FBA) helps family businesses in Australia and New Zealand to grow and thrive through connection, education, advocacy, peer-to-peer Forum Groups, events, guidance, resources and sector promotion. They advocate for a sector that plays an integral role in the economy and social fabric, accounting for 70% of all Australian businesses and 50% of the workforce. FBA supports family business owners, staff, family members connected to the business and the emerging generation, as well as the advisors who guide them, the partners who back the sector and the academics who research it.

Since 2010, Singapore Management University (SMU) has recognized the emergence of Asian business families and discerned that they require specifically contextualized thought leadership and applied knowledge. In response to the growing needs of business families in Asia, SMU established the Business Families Institute (BFI) in 2012. The BFI aims to strengthen the ecosystem of entrepreneurial business families and stakeholders by addressing business family-specific issues such as succession, family governance, entrepreneurship and wealth management.
